How to cancel an mpesa transaction

Safaricom has introduced a service where you can cancel a transaction if you notice that you have entered the wrong number before sending money.

Safaricom recently launched an additional functionality “Hakikisha” on the M-Pesa Menu in Kenya, which will enable subscribers to confirm a recipient’s name before completing an M-Pesa transaction. Hakikisha, which means “to ascertain, confirm, or verify” in Swahili, has been introduced to ensure customers no longer lose money as a result of erroneously entering the wrong numbers when transferring funds.

Here is how Hakikisha Works:Go to M-PESA > Send Money > Enter Phone Number > Enter Amount > Enter M-PESA PIN > OK to Send > You will get a notification with the intended recipient’s Name > To stop any wrong transaction, type ‘1’ and press send within 15 seconds.
Pressing cancel or dismiss or close will not cancel the transaction. The pop-up feature will also apply when customers are making payments to Lipa Na M-PESA (PayBill option) and agent withdrawals. M-PESA Agents will also benefit from the service when depositing funds to customer numbers. This new enhancement is as a result of improved system capability after migration of M-PESA servers to Kenya earlier this year.

Can one cancel a transaction ince its in progress?
Once a transaction is initiated unfortunately it cannot be cancelled. But you can reverse the transaction to get your money back.Check our post on how to reverse a wrong mpesa transaction

How to get safaricom unlimited internet 2016

Many people have been asking on how to get safaricom unlimited internet.Unfortunately safaricom stopped offering the unlimited bundles which they once introduced in the year 2011 by giving daily unlimited internet for ksh 200per day or ksh 3000per month.
Though safaricom scrapped off unlimited internet, they have however offered better and affordable packages than what they used to offer back in the day.
To get enjoy other safaricom internet offers dial *544#

How to get safaricom okoa internet bundles

Safaricom has introduced okoa internet bundles to allow you to enjoy being online when you have run out of airtime to buy internet bundles.
Keep on chatting and enjoying the internet anytime, anywhere with Okoa Bundles. It allows you, as a Prepay customer, to request for data bundles in advance and pay for them later.
To qualify for Okoa Bundles you need to have:
*.Used a similar amount of airtime to what you are requesting for in the previous week.
*.Your mobile number must have been active on Safaricom network for at least 6 months.
Don’t miss the online fun, dial*544*6#to Okoa Bundles.

How to get your safaricom mpesa statement

How to obtain your Mpesa statement for up to 1 year
In my case, I first dialed *234# and was presented with a number of options to choose from.

The options were listed as below:

1 Mpesa products

2 My Mpesa Information

3 Mpesa agent services

4 Merchant services

Under Mpesa product, I learned that one could even send money internationally, presumably to countries where Mpesa was supported. But one had to create a Safaricom universal pin and then select 1 to accept their terms and conditions.

I didn’t care to proceed because I was not interested in any of that stuff. After all, I only wanted to know if there was a way to view my Mpesa statement for the last 12 months or one year.

You can see from this article that most readers only wanted to discover ways of viewing their statement for the last 12 months.

Anyway, I proceeded to select the second option which would lead me to my Mpesa statement.

I should mention that Safaricom has structured those statements very well, and now you can receive your mini statement and full statement if you want to.

Mini statements are delivered on your phone like regular messages. Of course a mini statement will only reflect your transactions for the past few days or weeks.

I chose to select my mpesa statement for the last 12 years and the results shocked me when they were sent to my email inbox.

I had transacted a sum of nearly Ksh1,000,000 via Mpesa. But this is not of concern in this article.

So let me just say that once you dial *234#, you should be served with a few options that are self-explanatory.

You can even report a complaint to Safaricom via *234#. It makes your work easier just in case you happen to encounter a fraud through your Mpesa line.

But I must say that cases of sending money to the wrong users have significantly declined since they launched their Hakikishfeature. You cannot accidentally send money to the wrong number regardless of how drunk you are.

Signing up for your Mpesa statement

You can sign up through the method stated above. However, you will be required to supply information about your Kenyan ID, passport, Military ID, Diplomatic ID, or Alien ID.

You will also be required to give your email address in which Safaricom will send your monthly financial statement transacted via Mpesa.

Safaricom sends their Mpesa statements on the 4th of every month. When it arrives in your inbox, you will have to click on the email to open it. Then find the PDF document at the bottom of the email. Click on it. The document should request for your password. Enter the ID you used when registering for Mpesa statements. You should be able to see every bit of transaction you conducted via the platform. It’s that simple.

Get safaricom internet settings

ou have a phone, but now configuring Safaricom internet settings is the problem. This should be a rare situation indeed, because from what I have observed, all Safaricom phones tend to have internet settings pre-configured into them. So all you have to do is insert a Safaricom sim card, purchase internet bundles and start surfing the web.

Nevertheless, it’s very possible that you will find yourself in a situation where you need the right Safaricom internet settings configured into your device.

And the good news is that you do not need to be technical in nature to configure internet settings on your device. It’s not rocket science, so there’s no need to call their support to have each step explained to you. Unless you have all the time in the world, I don’t encourage this.

Therefore, let’s just put it simple by saying it’s a matter of inputting a few values I have listed below. Also, if you’re using a4G device, courtesy of Safaricom’s network, then we also need to gossip a little bit about that shortly.

Back to the core business of the day, let’s start tuning up things by going to the menu, tools, settings, connection, access point, options, and then New Access Point.

If we’re together until now, you can input the following information:

Safaricom internet settings for the folks who use 3G devices

Name of connection            Safaricom 3GData Bearer                             Data PacketUsername                                safAPN                                            safaricomPrompt Password                noPassword                                 dataAuthentication                      NormalHomepage                              You can choose the URL of your favourite homepage

If you’ve done this, you’re one step away from enjoying 3G internet on your device. We’re still not yet through. You need to go back to Connection, then data packet, data packet connection, and then select when needed.

All access points should be filled with the word Safaricom.

Safaricom internet settings for MMS

It is important to note that MMS services by Safaricom are charged at the rate of Ksh3.50 to Safaricom network and Ksh8 to other telecom networks in Kenya.

300 Kilobytes is the minimum you can upload.

Anyway, let’s quickly configure the device you’re using by going to menu, tools, settings, connection, access point, then Select Options. You’re going to choose a New Access Point, then UseDefault Settings.

Connection name is gonna be Safaricom MMS. In the space where you’re supposed to fill up data bearer, write GPS, then APN and username should be GPRS and Saf respectively.

Password should be data while authentication should be selected as Normal. In the space where you’re being asked for the name of your homepage, fill up this: http://mms.gprs.safaricom.com.

Once you’re through, go to Advanced settings where you will select your IP address as Automatic.

Your primary name server should be 000.000.000.000.

Secondary name server is the same as your primary name server.

However, your proxy server address should be 172.022.002.038.Lastly, fill in 8080 where you’re asked to input your port number.

If you have followed these steps exactly the way I am highlighting them, we’re all set.

One more thing:

To ensure that you will only use this service when you need it, look for connection, then GPRS, then GPRS connection and select when needed.

Access point should always be safaricom. Go to Messaging, Options, Settings and finally Multi Media Message.

Multi Media Reception should be set to ON

When receiving messages, choose the option that says Retrieve Immediately.

Receive adverts, select No

Receive Report, select Yes

Deny Report Sending, select Yes

If you have done this, then you have configured your Safaricom internet settings, and so you’re ready to enjoy the web on your device.

For those who want to upgrade to Safaricom 4G internet

4G LTE is a fast internet connection which lets you enjoy true HD streaming of videos and audio content. It also allows for video calling and browsing at 5 times the speed of normal internet.

This can be compared to a sports car in motion. Pages are loading at the blink of an eye. No more buffering of videos when streaming movies or music clips on the internet.

Also, with the launch of Netflix in Kenya just the other day, you can stream content directly on your mobile device or TV, thanks to Safaricom’s very own 4G network.

I believe most of the phones that were launched between May 2015 and this year are 4G enabled. But if your device is not 4G-capable, then you will need to visit any Safaricom shop in town to have it enabled for you.

There is no going through the steps I listed above in configuring Safaricom internet settings.

So just get a 4G device and a 4G sim card. Under the settings menu, you will choose 4G/LTE option and you’re ready to go.

How to share Safaricom Bundles with other network users

In the past, you could transfer up to 900MB of data to other network users. However, Safaricom put a cap on that, and this has limited users tosharing up to 20MB of data per day, and 10MB of data per user.In other words, one user is only allowed to receive 10MB of data from you within a time-span of 24 hours.

So if yousambaza20MB a day, you’d be over the limit of sharing your internet with others.A group of petitioners early this year tried challenging the move, but were unsuccessful. The company continues to maintain that they did this to cub illegal sale of internet bundles by third-party cartels. This is how you can effectively transfer data bundles:1 Once you dial *544#, you’ll see the option that says — Sambaza Internet.

You should select that option.2  Send a text message with the amount of MB you want to purchase in*destination mobile number* to 450.3 Alternatively, visit their webpage at www.safaricom.com/bundles usingyour mobile device to initiate this transaction.
